Manhattan Movers and City Island

City Island is a small island in the Bronx that you can visit with your New York City Movers. It is located at the extreme west end of Long Island Sound, south of Pelham Bay and east of Eastchester Bay.

A look at the past

When you visit City Island with your New York City Movers, it is almost like a look at your past. City Island was created by glacial deposits at the end of the last ice age. There is a layer of bedrock and a thick layer of red clay and sand here. The area is also covered with glacial erratic boulders. Today when you visit with your New York City Movers it is reminiscent of a small New England town.

Take a look around you

City Island is urbanized, but there are a number of typical New York animals. There are small rodents, deer, and stray cats on the island. There have also been coyote sightings. The most diversity of wildlife on the island comes from birds and aquatic species. There are many varieties of duck and gull. Interestingly, bright green parrots that were originally imported from South America have adapted to the climate and now breed in the wild here. There are a common sight to be seen from your New York City Movers on City Island.

Take a few bites

When you come to City Island with your New York City Movers, they are famous for their restaurants, especially seafood restaurants. Lobster is a common specialty on the island, but there are many establishments competing to feed you. The Black Whale is famous for its desserts and the Snug is a popular Irish pub in the area. City Island also has a number of local shops and museums that are interesting to visit. Focal Point Gallery is a specialist in photography, while Starving Artist Café & Gallery features musical talent. Exotiqa International Arts is a great place to pick up a souvenir in your New York City Movers because they feature art objects, gift items, and jewelry from around the world. The City Island Nautical Museum is also a unique stop with your New York City Movers because they display maritime artifacts and antiques.

Plan your trip

There is a small ferry service that connects City Island to the mainland, as well as a rail link (the Pelham Park and City Island Railroad). The three lane City Island Bridge is the main connection for your New York City Movers. The subway also reaches the island. While you are on City Island, the City Island Seaside Trolley is run by the Bronx Tourism Council for you to enjoy.

City Island is a great place for you to enjoy with your New York City Movers for a small-town feel in Manhattan. The island feels a little more like a New England fishing village, but they have excellent galleries and museums, boating, and restaurants to keep you interested.
